Fire classification of roofing 

The purpose associated with stipulating technical fire requirements for roofing is to prevent:

  • Flying, burning objects that are transported by turbulent air currents from burning buildings, from setting fire to the roofs of adjacent buildings.
  • Flying, burning objects from causing fire to spread through the roofing/roof construction and from setting fire to the rest of the building.
  • A roof fire from spreading to a wider area.
